Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the number of moments that take our breath away...

You are what you eat...

I assume we have all heard that old expression..."You are what you eat."  Well if that's true, what are you? Sweet or savory?  A fruit or a nut?  Hot or mild?  Raw or baked?  It is so common for people to wait until they are hungry to eat...or eat in celebration of an event...when they are feeling emotional...or even not eat because of stress and a busy lifestyle.  So what are your eating patterns?  When do you eat?  How much do you eat?  How often do you eat?  And, most importantly, what do you eat?  Make a journal for the week... On the first page make a list of all of your favorite foods.  Across from each item, describe how it makes you feel when you eat it.  For example, milkshake - tastes so sweet and yummy but makes me feel bloated and my belly hurts.  I feel sluggish afterwards.  Or... chicken breast meat - tastes hearty and fills me up without the bloat. I feel energized and focused.  This list will provide you with simple awareness of what you enjoy, how you feel, and what you get out of eating.  Everyone is different so, what makes me feel a certain way is not always the case for another.  This list is about YOU figuring out what is right for YOU.  Diets can be loaded with suggestions and eliminations.  They are not meant to be anything other than a quick fix.  It’s time to lose that mentality and get involved in the big picture.  Your life...you are worth the energy it takes to be healthy and satisfied.  So stop filling up with empty short term ingredients, no pun intended :) and find out what's fueling you.  After you make that list, take the next few days to journal what you are eating.  Log in the amounts, times, and how you felt after.  Let this lead you in the right path of your wellness.  Food is healing and can be our medicine to remedy so much in our daily presence.  Like everything in life, there are choices that serve us and then ones that teach us.  Discover the passion in eating righteously and experience the magic in the transformation that awaits you when you are eating to nourish the physical being to the core.  Food is an energy exchange.  Ask yourself, what energy is going into you?  And therefore, what is coming out?  You can only go as you can see and choose to be... so choose wisely and with love for yourself.  Understand that what you are doing NOW will affect you later.  So then, if you are what you eat, what have you become?  Are the things you digest fueling the fire to produce vitality?  Or is it eating you?  Depleting, holding, storing, and ultimately causing dis-ease which becomes disease?!  No one will take better care of you than you, so please take care of you.  Nothing tastes better than health and well-being...let it fill you daily!
